We recently concluded the Miami Lyric Opera 2013 season with significant artistic success. Our new productions of Il Tabarro and Gianni Schicchi generated positive impact among the public and the media. It is my pleasure now to announce the opera season for 2014, which will begin with a new production of L’Amico Fritz by Pietro Mascagni. We are also presenting Giuseppe Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera (A Masked Ball), a new production that represents an important challenge for an opera company with Miami Lyric Opera’s mission. Also included in our season is the beautiful comedy opera Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti. We close the season with La Bohème, the great masterwork of Giacomo Puccini. As in previous seasons, the upcoming operas will be performed at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach and at the Olympia Theater at Gusman Center in downtown Miami.
We have many reasons to be proud of Miami Lyric Opera. With this coming season we celebrate our tenth year presenting opera events on a continuous basis in our community. Our cultural achievements have included a total of ninety public performances and the introduction of over twenty important operatic works. We value the long list of artists who have been given opportunities to offer their talents to our audiences while gaining experience vital for the advancement of their operatic careers.
