Miami Lyric Opera (MLO) announces its Opera Season for the 2009 at
Colony Theater in Miami Beach. The 2008 season has concluded with great
success that included the Barber of Seville, La Traviata, Lucia di
Lammermoor, Madama Butterfly and two Opera Highlights Concerts. Fine
artists and experienced opera directors participated in giving
significant enhancement to the season.
The new season starts on March 26th with the celebrated Bellini’s opera
I Puritani, same that was postponed from the previous season, continues
with Cavalleria Rusticana and Suor Angelica by Mascagni and Puccini
respectively. Following will be presented for the first time by MLO a
well-known Spanish opera Marina by Emilio Arrieta. It closes the opera
cycle with the debut of George Bizet’s Carmen that is a new challenge
for this young opera company. Completes the season with a great Opera
Highlights Concert with a select group of fine artists, MLO Chorus all
accompanied by the Orchestra of MLO.
For the third consecutive year and with the Sponsorship of the City of
Miami Beach Department of Tourism and Cultural Development, MLO will
present L’elisir d’amore (Elixir of love) at North Shore Open Space
Park, (81 Street and Collins) - Free Entrance - for all public.
Among the confirmed artists to date is the Italian tenor Francesco Valpa,
the Brazilian soprano Daniella Carvalho, who had a great success in the
recent Madama Butterfy, the Miamian soprano Susana Diaz, the soprano
Guinevere Tiffin that makes debut with MLO, the well-known soprano
Beverly Coulter, the Spanish tenor Aurelio Gavaldón, the young tenor
David Pereira, the baritone Daniel Snodgrass, the Argentinean bass Diego
Baner, the Mexican bass Alvaro Ramirez, the Miamian mezzo-soprano
Lissette Jimenez and many other artists who soon will be confirmed in
the cast of each opera The orchestra will be under the direction of
Doris Lang-Kosloff, Alfredo Munar, Beverly Coulter, Jeff Eckstein and
guest conductor. Raffaele Cardone will be in charge of the Artistic and
General Direction.
In behalf of MLO, Raffaele Cardone wishes to extend his gratitude to all
the people who in one or other form, have contributed to the success of
this young opera company as well as to the Cultural Authorities of Miami
Dade and Miami Beach for their support year after year to this project.

than once and eventually increase the number of performances soon as the
new venue in the South part of Miami is available in addition to The
Colony Theater of Miami Beach. Established and emerging artists are
being recruiting to offer the best available voices in South Florida and
from elsewhere as well as conductors coming from different parts of the
Nation
This young Opera Company, founded and directed by the prestigious
Italian tenor Raffaele Cardone, began its activity on October 30, 2004;
since then, it has successfully presented more than 40 opera and Concert
performances in the area of Miami Dade. MLO is committed to offering an
accessible operatic alternative in Miami and to create opportunities for
new talents to perform and acquire experience alongside known artists.
Our objective is to bring the magical and marvelous world of the opera
to Miami audiences at accessible price that requires the support of
opera lovers and the public in general. The permanent campaign “We need
your Help” requires of the support of all those who can help with
individual donations as of corporations and institutions that are
interested in the art in the South of Florida. Donations are deductible
of taxes for being a Non-Profit organization according to the Code 501c
(3) of IRS.
