About MLO

It is a great honor for me to introduce Miami Lyric Opera, a company created to satisfy operatic needs of Opera lovers in the Miami area and to provide an accessible alternative for the enjoyment of the marvelous magic of the Opera.

MLO was officially created as a Non Profit Corporation (IRS code 501 c, 3 in 2004 as but operating as an opera group since two years before the Community Theater Manuel Artime and other venues in Little Havana, Miami. Few years later the company made its official home at The Colony Theater in Miami Beach until 2017. During those years MLO produced operatic events simultaneously at Historical Theater in Miami as well as Miami Beach’s Band Shell and other. In 2017 MLO made its home as resident opera company, at South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC) state of the arts venue located I Cutler Bay, South Miami. Being a low budget opera company, Miami Lyric Opera has recognized by the media and public at large for the quality of its productions, artistic level and contribution to the arts to the community. To this date, MLO has [produced 23 opera titles, more than 220 operatic performances and the formation of dozens of young artists now performing at National and International stages. Since then, year after year MLO has successfully presented over 20 different opera titles based on the Italian and French repertoire accumulating over 100 performances in South Florida which provided opportunities to a long list of local and international artists.

The Covid 19 pandemic affecting the entire world, has not spared the arts, MLO as well most of the opera companies, have suffered its traumatic consequences forcing us to stop producing events and appearance in public since the beginning of 2020. Two years later we reinitiated with a reduced season opening with Verdi’s La Traviata following with Carmen, L’elisr d’amore a Gala Concert and Lucia di Lammermoor all of them very successful productions. We look ahead for better future and your support as always..
