It is a great honor for me to introduce Miami Lyric Opera, a company created to satisfy operatic needs of Opera lovers in the Miami area and to provide an accessible alternative for the enjoyment of the marvelous magic of the Opera.

MLO made its official presentation to the public as a Non-Profit Organization, on October 31, 2004, but started operating as an opera group almost a year earlier at Manuel Artime Theater in the Little Havana and other local venues. Since then, year after year MLO has successfully presented some 23 different opera titles based on the Italian and French repertoire accumulating to date over 130 performances in South Florida which provided opportunities to a long list of local and international artists.

MLO productions are presented in the wonderful venue of South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC)  located in South Miami (Cutler Bay). We continue with our plans to select an additional venue within Miami Dade County area.

The mission of MLO among other is to provide classical opera production in its original version respecting the tradition, the composer and the libretto. To bring genuine opera productions to the community at reasonable prices, to educate, encourage and create opportunities for young talent for as well as experienced artists with the support of the community. Miami Lyric Opera believes that a collective effort is the magic that creates quality of life and cultural enlightenment.
